When I was young

1965 August, I was recruited as a government servant, posted to Sembawang Farm School for two years for Farm Training. It was an exciting experience for me, as I grew up in the city area. There were 17 of us in the training. We lived in a big dormitory room. Only on Saturday, we could be released for home. Three meals were provided there. We were taught the following subjects: Animal Husbandry, Freshwater Fishery, Marine Water Fishery, Poultry Farming, Agriculture Farming, Cooperate Society law, and Machine Engineering. Most of the subjects were taught by the Taiwan lecturers. We had practical work in the field. We planted sweet corns, local vegetable, keep poultry pans, we also had two fish ponds to keep local fish for local market, we had a big aquarium with three large tanks to keep precious Gold fish, carps and others. We learned grafting of fruit trees too.

Cathy was one of my favorite cinemas. I used to watch Saturday or Sunday morning shows there. That time, I was stay at 175B Selegie Road. It accompanied me for most of my teenage years.

This is the electric bus operated in year 50-65. The power supply was from the top of the two wires. When it made the turn at the corner, the conductor of the bus needed to run down the bus, to its rear to pull down the two erected bars, and re-connected them to the road where the bus turn into. He needs good timing to perform this act, otherwise, the bus would run out of power. Quite a cute move there!
